The Racer II
Racer II Q500 428 KitWing- The wing is a one-piece white foam core that’s already sheeted with 1/16 balsa. Carbon fiber is applied at 3 inches in from the leading edge on both sides. Carbon fiber is also applied at the leading edge (LE) thus eliminating the need for the solid balsa LE. Two-inch (2”) fiberglass cloth is applied at the trailing edge on the topside as well. A 1/64th strip of plywood is also applied on the top side, of the trailing edge. West Systems Epoxy is applied to the balsa skins along with the carbon fiber, fiberglass and the wing is vacuum bagged. The wing tips are of the solid balsa type. I use 10-inch ailerons as illustrated on the plans or you can build them, as you so desire. J
Fuselage- The fuselage is of basic construction, using lite ply and balsa wood. When you build the fuselage, you will see it goes together very fast. Be sure to follow plans detail when setting the tail incidence, this is critical. The V tail incidence and the wing incidence is 0 degrees. This Racer II is designed for a hidden linkage setup. The nose compartment is just big enough for a 6-oz Tetra or a Jett fuel cell. Be sure to plan your radio gear installation because space will at a premium inside the fuselage. Also be sure to fiberglass the center section of the V tail, ˝oz to 1oz cloth usually does the trick for strengthening this area.
Hardware- My 428 Racer II kit comes only with aileron torque rods, elevator torque rods and landing gear. No other hardware is provided. L Through out my research and development, I have found that most builders prefer to use their own hardware materials that can be procured at most hobby shops in your local area. It is my policy to only ship out your kit when I have received your payment.
