Race Results

A total of 9 pilots were ready to go for this event, but it got off to a slow start due to foggy and misty conditions.  A few “brave” pilots managed some trim flights by keeping their planes within eyeshot, and eventually it was determined that this was as good as its going to get….let’s go racing!  This was a day of few mishaps, which was in sharp contrast to last year when we diggered about 8 planes. 

Mark Warning had flight problems right out of the box, and after zeroing 3 rounds he finally discovered the hinge line tape on the tail was coming loose and messing up the tail aero.  No problems after the tape was removed!  At the lunch break it looked like the race would be determined between 4 guys.  Darwin Larson eliminated himself from the running after a takeoff midair with Malcolm Reynolds.  Jim Nikodem lost to Bernie Vanderleest before lunch, but then redeemed himself twice in the afternoon.  Jim also edged Mick Warning in their only match, which ended up handing the overall victory to Jim.  The results ended up like this:
